I LOVE YOU STRANGER

I Love You Stranger is a musical attempt to arrive at a definition of bipolar. It is an etymological / epistolary / epiphanic pop fantasia—containing the archives of a pivotal romantic relationship! The disputed history of a psychiatric disorder!

And an inquiry into the nature of the suicidal impulse.

Is suicide a contagious disease? If it is, how is it transmitted? How do we diagnose those artists who we lose to overdose and suicide and mysterious circumstances, and what do we inherit from them? A year in the life of an artist throws a lifetime into relief.

I LOVE YOU STRANGER is currently in development at Ars Nova in their Makers Lab program. It has previously been developed in The Civilians’ R & D Group, and at Judson Memorial Church. An excerpt in progress will be presented Fall 2019 as part of the Prelude Festival.
